Plan the handover before the goods move
- How are export documents and freight arranged?
- What do EXW and FOB discussions need to cover?
- How is film packaging protected in transit?
Shipping terms are agreed per order, destination and transport mode. Ask for a quotation that separates product price, packaging, testing, freight, insurance where applicable, duties and taxes, and any external documentation work. Delivery timing depends on production approval, release testing, carrier availability and customs clearance.
| Project details | Destination, consignee, importer, product identity, intended classification and route |
|---|---|
| Trade basis | Discuss the appropriate Incoterms rule, named place and version with the freight team; EXW and FOB are examples, not automatic terms |
| Documents | Commercial invoice, packing list and applicable origin, quality or export documents as agreed |
| Transport protection | Primary barrier, carton protection, humidity or temperature sensitivity and handling instructions |
| Timeline | Production lead time plus release, dispatch, transit and import clearance; no universal door-to-door promise |
| Responsibility | Clarify export clearance, freight booking, insurance, duties, taxes and local approvals in writing |
FOB is associated with sea or inland-waterway transport; another rule may fit an air or courier shipment better. Confirm the named location and responsibilities in the commercial contract. The project team can coordinate the available documentation but cannot guarantee customs acceptance without the applicable importer and market requirements.
